Our Team

The Estate Management & Platform Engineering team are responsible for driving and delivering Virgin Money’s strategy for Observability, Platform Engineering and Capacity & Performance management. As a function of the Technology Operations & Cyber Security (TOCS) department, we continually strive to provide secure, reliable and resilient service to our internal stakeholders and external customers.

We're looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to join our Observability Centre of Excellence (CoE). As a Technical Product Owner you will be the champion for the implementation and adoption of our strategic Observability tool-of-choice (Dynatrace). Working closely with our Technical leads, development teams and business stakeholders your key role will be to ensure our Product backlog is current, prioritised and tightly managed.

This role in a nutshell:

 As a Technical Product Owner for the Observability CoE you will:

  • Act as the bridge between our technical teams and business units, ensuring that Dynatrace is effectively utilized to provide deep insights into our systems' performance and reliability
  • Be responsible for managing the product lifecycle, from initial deployment to ongoing enhancements, and for championing best practices in observability
  • Translate complex technical requirements into actionable plans
  • Coordinate team(s) of engineers to deliver prioritised backlog items
  • Demonstrating leadership and excellent communication skills to help both deliver and coach colleagues on Agile ways of working and best practice
  • Driving visible and transparent reporting of deliverables and achievements to Senior Management

To be successful you’ll need to bring:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and observability tools, with hands-on experience in Dynatrace.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Analytical Mindset: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Agility and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements. Proven experience working to Agile Methodologies.

It’s a bonus if you have...but not essential:

  • Previous experience implementing Dynatrace/ alternative Observability solutions
  • Experience working in a regulated business environment
  • Strong supplier management experience
  • Additional Technical Experience with: Microsoft Azure, Redhat Openshift, AppDynamics
