Our Team

Our Unsecured Financial Insight team sits within the wider Credit Risk function and is responsible for delivering loss forecasts across our Unsecured portfolios. We track both loss and provision movements, using expert knowledge of the credit risk on the portfolio to drive insight and make recommendations on strategies and policies.

As a Credit Risk Senior Analyst you’ll report into the Unsecured Credit Risk Manager, with core responsibilities of producing and collating credit data, producing relevant and insightful management information into the performance of the portfolio and making recommendations to manage the credit quality of the portfolio. Through reviewing the data produced you will have the opportunity to identify themes and trends, collaborating with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to build your knowledge and deliver insight.

What you’ll be doing

  • Insight and Analysis: Supporting the Credit Risk Manager by producing meaningful insights and analysis to understand emerging impairment trends across unsecured portfolios.
  • Collaboration: Working collaboratively with Commercial, Finance, and Risk colleagues to inform key stakeholders of current and future impairment outlooks.
  • Forecasting: Regularly refreshing unsecured loss curves, using emerging and historic trends to generate forecasts aligned with current new business expectations.
  • Corporate Planning: Supporting annual corporate planning by producing long-term arrears and provision trends in line with balance sheet and account run-rate forecasts.
  • Process Improvement: Reviewing existing internal processes and reporting outputs, identifying weaknesses and implementing improvements with a focus on simplification, efficiency, and accuracy to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Strategy Support: Providing support to Credit Strategy owners by producing impact analysis for proposed strategy revisions to determine the implications on expected credit losses.
  • Governance: Maintaining internal governance frameworks, policies, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring they are embedded in the business to promote good risk practices.

We need you to have

  • Prior experience working in a similar analytical role, with a good understanding of a Credit Risk function.
  • Advanced skills within data mining, manipulation, and summarisation (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, power BI or similar).
  • Strong communication skills, enabling you to build networks and relationships with internal parties and be a team player.
  • Good understanding of data structure and Credit Risk strategies.
  • Confidence to raise new ideas or insight from your experience to ultimately influence the business focus.
  • Clear understanding of what “looks right” and can accurately review and error check their own and others analysis.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Prior experience in forecasting future outlooks, making use of historic and emerging trends.
  • Experience working with model frameworks used within Credit Risk functions (IFRS9, Basel etc.).
  • Understanding of the Legal and Regulatory framework and agenda, and operations of Risk and the wider business.

If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
