We work collaboratively to build a brand that is distinctive, dynamic, and deeply connected to our customers.  As Head of Brand, you’ll be responsible for shaping and driving Virgin Money’s brand strategy, taking the brand to market in a way that accelerates the acquisition of new customers at the same time as priming existing customers for the eventual move to Nationwide. You’ll lead a high-performing team, working across brand positioning, creative development, customer experience, and brand partnerships to strengthen our market presence and emotional connection with customers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the Virgin Money brand strategy and plan, fully leveraging the equity of the Virgin mother-brand, evolving Virgin Money’s brand promise and driving consideration for the brand – with a view to transitioning to Nationwide over the next 4 to 6 years.
  • Key to leading on the transition of the Virgin Money Brand into the Nationwide Group and the delivery of the rebrand and migration plan.
  • Leading cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of the brand strategy across proposition and product development, experience design, service and operations.
  • Driving the design and delivery of disruptive and distinctive multi-channel and full-funnel Brand campaigns which step-change demand for the brand and deliver against brand and sales outcomes across retail banking, credit cards and business banking.
  • Shaping and directing external agency partnerships to fast-track best-in-class campaigns & content.
  • Establishing a brand management centre of excellence as custodian of the brand, building distinctive ownable assets across formats.
  • Driving a customer-first approach to enterprise-wide content across all customer touchpoints, to deepen engagement, dialogue and trust with target and existing customers.
  • Developing and delivering an ongoing programme of activity that activates the Brand both internally and externally, ensuring the core Brand Promise is delivered consistently across all colleague and customer interactions.
  • Utilising deep customer insight, market trends, competitive landscape and an understanding of changing customer behaviour to inform, assess and modify Brand Marketing activity.

We need you to have

  • A brand leader with experience in brand strategy, rebranding and migration.
  • A deep understanding of brand development, creative strategy, and customer engagement.
  • A track record of delivering impactful brand campaigns and experiences.
  • Strong Senior leadership and stakeholder management skills with experience in influencing at Board and C-suite level
  • Extensive understanding of brand, marketing and content effectiveness, principles and tools with a zest for experimentation and continuous learning.
  • A challenger mindset – someone who thinks differently and pushes boundaries.
  • Passion for the Virgin brand and the Nationwide brand, and all that they stand for.

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
