Our Team

The International Trade team are the operational team responsible for providing support to Business customers by processing a wide variety of trade documentation alongside engaging directly with customers. We work as one big team helping to ensure each transaction goes smoothly through its journey from start to finish. We take care of the details that matter whilst providing exceptional customer service, so if you love a challenge then we’ve got a great opportunity for you to join us.

The Specialist Officer role involves dealing with the various products from establishment through to settlement. You’ll need to be confident talking to internal and external customers, have a high attention to detail and provide our customers with that heartfelt service.  Tasks are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the various rules and regulations that govern the Trade products.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain customer records and monitor current files from inception until completion.
  • Resolve and respond promptly to a range of enquiries.
  • Complete payment of international trade transactions in both sterling and foreign currencies.
  • Reconcile, prepare and/or check impersonal and suspense accounts in accordance with Bank’s standards.
  • Check shipping documents presented to make an informed decision on whether to honour or refuse payment.
  • Build your knowledge on international trade products such as Import and Export Loans; Letters of Credit; International Guarantees.

We need you to have

  • A track record of delivering accurate and high-quality Administration tasks in line with timescales provided.
  • Ability to retain complete and accurate records of transactions. High attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and in an engaging manner, both verbally and in writing. 
  • A strong customer service ethic to ensure focus on delivering a high standard of service.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Experience in ensuring transactions are completed in compliance to policy, procedures and regulations.
  • Familiar with the basics of Microsoft Office applications including Excel.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Relevant experience or knowledge of the products we deal with at International Trade, but it’s not essential

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
