Location: Hybrid - Occasional travel to Glasgow and Newcastle hub when required. 
Contract type: Permanent – Part time – 17.5 Hours a week (0.5 FTE)

Our Team

We have a fantastic opportunity for a part time 0.5 FTE Senior Virtual Engineer in our Virtual Workspace Team.

Responsible for the overall strategy, Application Delivery and Desktop Provisioning across all virtual environments within the bank, the Virtual Workspace team within TOCS operate, monitor, maintain, protect, and evolve the Banks Corporate Virtual Workspace environment which is central to providing customer and colleague-facing services to internal and 3rd Party colleagues.

The team currently supports a range of legacy and current Citrix farms, a growing Azure Virtual Desktop footprint, the ability and knowledge to effectively support all of these is paramount.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Management, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Provide Virtual environment support to colleagues and customers
  • Plan & execute technical & procedural improvements to the Virtual Stack & where relevant associated applications.
  • Be comfortable taking ownership of incidents from a virtual perspective making any decisions or guidance to regain service.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure that change within the environment is managed and controlled effectively.
  • Build effective relationships with supporting departments, our 3rd parties and colleagues.
  • Manage the patching lifecycle, including scheduling, deployment, and verification.
  • Supporting and implementation deliverables and support.
  • Project lifecycles including (but not be limited to) design influence, infrastructure build and test

We need you to have…

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of Citrix XenDesktop, NetScaler’s and the full Citrix Stack
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of AVD and/or Windows 365 Cloud PC from a configuration and management perspective.
  • Knowledge of administering blade infrastructure in VMWare.
  • Knowledge of corporate business continuity and disaster recovery processes.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of using Citrix DaaS/Cloud for managing workloads and access.
  • Experience in IT security, system administration, or a similar role with a focus on security patch management and system upgrades
  • Experience of working in a highly governed and controlled IT environment
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites across the UK to provide support when needed.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and determined to deliver an excellent service.
  • Ability to support out of hours patching / change on an ad hoc schedule.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential…

  • Experience of application containerisation processes.
  • Experience of App-V and SCCM.
  • Experience of Ivanti UEM / AppSense.
