Our Team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Developer to join the Finance Tribe within our Enterprise Systems function in the Chief Operating Office (COO). The purpose of the Senior Developer role is to lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of complex software systems while mentoring junior team members and ensuring high-quality code and architecture.

Our focus is on maintaining and improving our finance systems estate, creating an architecture that meets the regulatory expectations, and enables performance, control and efficiency benefits. We deliver mandatory change, strategic change, and BAU support and run for the IT assets that we own. Our Finance Tribe brings together colleagues from technology and the finance business area to deliver change across key technical applications. The core work of the Finance Tribe is about building and supporting a Finance systems architecture for a tier-one bank, and that delivers performance and efficiency benefits to all the Finance team, and to the wider organisation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of regulatory data reporting solutions in SAS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Working closely with business stakeholders to understand priorities and realise improvements in data and reporting.
  • Collaborating with a range of business and technical SMEs to improve the quality of data lineage.
  • Owning the design, build, unit test and implementation of enhancements and new functionality.
  • Provide day to day support to our business colleagues and working collaboratively with various business stakeholders to understand and define change.
  • Accountable for ensuring the business and technical architecture of the delivered solution matches technical and functional requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation, as appropriate.
  • Works closely with Project Managers to size work and manage scope, risks, and issues.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of ‘best practice’ initiatives within the specialist area of activity or IT in general and an awareness of global developments / practices.

We need you to have

  • Proven ability to design, configure, and test data solutions in a financial and regulatory environment
  • Strong understanding of data lineage, data quality and data warehousing
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience of working with ETL tools
  • Proven technical integration, analysis and design skills including solution/system design experience.
  • Technical implementation management experience, from software delivery to ongoing lifecycle support (upgrades, patch fixes).
  • Experience of working with and managing outsourced suppliers / strategic partners.
  • Familiarity with technical incident management processes and resolution.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Databricks
  • Experience of data solutions supporting Credit Risk and Finance functions
  • Experience of Stress Testing Data Framework, ideally Credit Risk actuals
