Our Team
The Core & Data Application Support team provide support and expertise for the banks on premise & Azure cloud digital data platform. Our team is responsible for deployments of project changes to the data platform and at the same time providing technical support, maintenance, and improvement of the underlying technical estate across multiple environments.

As Virgin Money strives to become a Digital-First bank we are preparing the team for the transition, but we also have a range of systems and services that we must continue to provide an excellent service and support towards.

The team are currently supporting the banks cloud adoption strategy, with several services now being developed onto Azure. We are seeking someone with experience of running and migrating applications to Azure. This role is about supporting the team towards operational excellence within an Azure cloud environment.

What you’ll be doing
• Accountable for the operational 24/7 support and management of the banks on premise & Azure cloud digital data platform, providing technology specialism within application support, and for assisting with the development of the technical cloud capability of the team
• Responsible for e2e service support of VM’s key Core banking & Data systems, which will require support on applications and services that reside across both on premise and Cloud platforms
• Carrying out daily health checks and reporting of overnight batches and systems where there is a requirement to work between the hours of 07:30 – 17:30 as part of early\late rota
• Supporting our services through the proactive identification of risk and swift resolution of live issues while maintaining excellent customer service
• Flexibility with potential to join an on-call support rota for 24/7 core & data services & also support out of hours changes
• Responsible for controlled change to applications & associated platforms, working with key internal colleagues to ensure that operational requirements are effectively defined and applied in the solution designs
• Producing and updating technical schematics and documentation as components are delivered or changed, to ensure an accurate picture of the landscape for all environments
• Contributing to customer satisfaction by ensuring that the on Customer & Colleague products and services are available and performant

We need you to have
• Solid experience of managing production services across an Azure cloud platform including performance, availability, resilience & security of the platform.
• Azure Fundamental qualified
• Experience of supporting batch & file transfer related issues for on premise and Cloud
• Significant experience of providing technical specialism for application support for on premise systems in both Windows & Unix operating systems.

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential
• Scripting and automation skills.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry.
