Salary Range: £56,000 - £84,000 per annum DOE + red hot benefits

Our Team

The Business Control Team within Business & Commercial Division enable safe growth by working with key stakeholders across the business, supporting all product governance, embedding Consumer Duty and driving an enhanced risk and control profile. It's an exciting time to join our team, we’ve laid the foundations and are focussed on accelerating risk and control management across the business; embedding our product governance standards and enhancing the frameworks within underpin our product offering.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop, embed and evolve Commercial Product Reviews & Fair Value Assessments (FVA’s) to the suitability of the regulator / Group stakeholders.
  • Design the governance for enterprise product monitoring, working closely with product teams on the setting of enterprise metrics to feed onward Board reporting, and management of any identified issues or “gaps”.
  • Develop, embed and evolve our products Potential Customer Harms heatmap across the BAU Consumer Duty landscape and governance routines.
  • Perform horizon scanning and benchmarking for Product Governance and Consumer Duty inline with industry expectations.
  • Champion product governance and lead technical working groups with representation from across VM’s Three Lines of Defence model.
  • Support to the wider business units on topics such as Product Reviews & FVA’s, Consumer Duty Data & MI and regulatory items, including the evolving Vulnerable Customer agenda.
  • Translate emerging/horizon regulatory changes that we must adopt into our product governance routines, including Consumer Duty & Vulnerable Customer (CD & VC) Frameworks.
  • Support the annual review of the Group’s Product Development & Product Monitoring policy, including attestation and acceptance of waivers.
  • Deliver timely and accurate risk reporting to the Commercial Leadership Team and corporate risk committees in line with the Group Risk Management Framework
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders professionally and with integrity to generate productive working relationships at all levels of seniority.

We need you to have

  • Direct Consumer Duty and general Product Governance knowledge and experience.
  • Practical experience of working within a risk and control environment and a strong understanding of Risk Management Frameworks
  • A focus on detail along with the ability to present your findings to a senior audience in a clear and concise manner
  • Resilience and confidence when operating in an environment where change is the norm
  • A passion for understanding customers and ensuring they are at the heart of all decisions
  • The ability to build effective relationships and the confidence to adapt these skills to communicate with a variety of peers and senior stakeholders across the Group

It’s a bonus if you have but not essential

  • In-depth regulatory and business practices knowledge relating to at least one Commercial Product
  • Experience in establishing an assurance framework
  • University Degree or equivalent Financial Services industry experience

If you're successful in securing a role with us, there are some checks you need to complete before starting. These include credit and criminal record checks and three years' worth of satisfactory references. If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre-employment checks – we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
